Goblet cells are abundant in mucosa.

✳ Lamina propria (of mucosa) is filled with intestinal glands (crypts of lieberkuhn).

✳ Muscularis mucosa is made up of inner circular and outer longitudinal layers of smooth muscles.
✳ Submucosa is composed of loose connective and contains blood vessels, lymphatics, nerve fibres.
